Thanksgiving in Colorado Springs means something different to every family. For some, it’s gathering at a relative’s home and enjoying a meal. There are many Thanksgiving-themed events scheduled around the area. Some are fundraisers, some allow you to create something, and some are for pure entertainment. Here are a few Thanksgiving-themed events in Colorado Springs.

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Toss: Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center

Enjoy an interesting and educational outdoor experience with your family on Thanksgiving morning. Come to the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center to watch resident wolves, coyotes, and fox families enjoy a turkey dinner. Note that no turkeys will be alive or harmed during this event. Limited space is available for this pre-paid event. The cost is $40 for those 12 and older and $20 for those ages 6-11. Thanksgiving Table Arrangement

Create a beautiful table arrangement to adorn your Thanksgiving gathering. Come to Sweetwater Studio on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM for this event. Sweetwater Studio is located at:

 All participants will receive personalized instruction to create their centerpieces. In addition, all supplies, including miniature pumpkins, greens, and flowers are included. Handprint Turkey Class

Get ready for Thanksgiving by painting your own turkey plate. An artist will help all participants pick out brushes, paints, and other utensils and provide instruction for creating a turkey plate. It is a great addition to any Thanksgiving table. This event will take place on Wednesday, November 23 from 2 to 3 PM. The cost is $29 per person plus tax. Find more information and register here. Run in a Race

Several races around town are available near Thanksgiving. Here are some of the most popular:

Turkey Trot 5K and Kids’ Tiny Trot

The Briargate YMCA is hosting this event on November 24, 2022. This is the 25th year of this event, which serves as a fundraiser for the YMCA. Funds raised go to provide scholarships for families in need. The Kids’ Tiny Trot is free and begins at 8:15 AM. The 5K starts at 9 AM and is $40 for adults and $30 for those aged 19 and under. The Tiny Trot is for children 12 years and younger. Furry friends may also join the race. The cost is $15 and these participants will receive a Creepy Crawl 5K bandana. 2022 Gobble Til You Wobble 

For more flexibility, run in a virtual race. Choose from a 1 mile, 5K, 10K, 13.1, or 26.2! You can run anytime in November, but it’s great fun to run on Thanksgiving to burn some calories before or after the big meal. A percentage of race registration fees will be donated to Feeding America and participants will receive a Gobble Til You Wobble medal after completing their event. The registration fee is $18, which also includes a bib. Those who participate can walk or run anywhere. Choose a trail, run on the road in your neighborhood, on a track, or at the gym on a treadmill. Lululemon COS Turkey Trot

If you’d like to run a race after Thanksgiving, consider the Lululemon COS Turkey Trot. This race will take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 9 AM to 11 AM. Choose from a 5K or 10K that starts in Pinon Valley Park and continues into Ute Valley Park in West Colorado Springs. The race is free, but donations to One Nation Walking Together are appreciated. This event is capped at 50, so register early. All participants will need a smartphone or watch to view the course GPS links. Find out more and reserve your spot here
